To provide a fun and educational program for youth and adults interested in developing his or her understanding of all aspects of sailing from pleasure sailing to competitive racing.

Sailing School 2024

With a history of over 40 years of instruction, Leatherlips Yacht Club has taught more than 3,000 children and adults to sail. Pleasantly sited on the west shore of O’Shaughnessy Reservoir across from the Columbus Zoo, the clubhouse has a large patio close to the water. Sailing instruction is offered for youth, teens and adults.

Whether you’re looking for a great summer program for your children, or you’ve always dreamed of sailing but have never been on a boat, our classes are a great way to test the waters. Students will have the opportunity to learn to sail a variety of small sailboats and the skills mastered will be transferable other sailboats. Besides learning sailing, students will learn how to read the wind, care of the equipment from start to finish and knots.

ALL instructors are CPR, First Aid & Concussion Awareness Certified. Our dedicated US Sailing certified staff promotes the US Sailing Instructor’s responsibility for safety, fun, and learning.
