With a history of over 40 years of instruction, Leatherlips Yacht Club has taught more than 3,000 children and adults to sail. Pleasantly sited on the west shore of O’Shaughnessy Reservoir across from the Columbus Zoo, the clubhouse has a large patio close to the water. Sailing instruction is offered for youth, teens and adults.
Whether you’re looking for a great summer program for your children, or you’ve always dreamed of sailing but have never been on a boat, our classes are a great way to test the waters. Students will have the opportunity to learn to sail a variety of small sailboats and the skills mastered will be transferable other sailboats. Besides learning sailing, students will learn how to read the wind, care of the equipment from start to finish and knots.
ALL instructors are CPR, First Aid & Concussion Awareness Certified. There are always US Sailing Level 1 or Level 2 Certified Instuctors on site.
All sailors must provide their own life jacket.
Leatherlips Yacht Club features everything to support a sailing program, its assets, and its students. The Sailing School currently hosts a well-maintained fleet of Optimist, C420’s, Laser’s, and numerous support boats.
All classes are held at Leatherlips Yacht Club’s facility at 9230 Shawnee Trail, Powell, OH 43065.
